Resource ships have much thicker armor, and can shrug off fighter attacks more easily, but get blown to bits by Assault Frigates. Assault Frigates are now much more dangerous against corvettes and other frigates than in classic, much more worth having around. Better to just build corvettes for antifighter duty. Interceptors are basically useless now for anything other than popping scouts and attack bombers. It would give them a lot more purpose in life and justify their high build cost vs their relative low damage/armor output.ДЄ few things I've noticed so far (I'm on Mission 5): This would allow them to draw fire off of damaged ships or critical resources, bait enemies into traps, etc. Interceptors would be a LOT cooler if they had some kind of special 'distract' or 'taunt' ability that allowed you to basically send them into a firefight and taunt the target craft into attacking them (instead of its current target) for X amount of time.

They're so lightly armored that even getting them TO any kind of large/slow craft is a challenge, since anything stronger than a stiff breeze from virtually any other craft in the game and they're atomized. While this makes sense from a strategic point of view, it would probably work a lot better if there was some kind of formation or stance that capitalized on this. It seems like the best use for Interceptors is mostly just as a distraction for large and slow craft that have trouble maneuvering to shoot them down while they buzz around doing little damage.

Corvettes just munch through them, and since 3 Interceptors costs more than a single Heavy Corvette, why not just build the Vette instead and get the massive boost in both armor and survivability? Scouts get shredded by anything else, which makes sense, since they're meant for scouting not attacking, but Interceptors also get torn apart while doing seemingly little damage. Fighters are almost completely useless for me so far (I'm on M4).
